Our Roots – the Pride of Our People

September 25th, 2017 – A concert to celebrate 50 years of professional creative carrier of people’s composer Israel Ephraimov took place in the Cultural Center of Netanya. Over 600 people of Caucasian descent living in Israel came from all over the country, and the composer arrived from the United States for the occasion.

It was a wonderful celebration of the folk roots and culture of the Caucasian Jews with music, dance and song and display of rich cultural inheritance. People of all ages, from young to old, participated in performances and sat in the audience. It was great to see that young people of the community want to learn about their roots and keep on supporting their traditions within Israeli society.

Helping Hand Coalition for Israel (עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל) is a long-time supporter of many cultural groups, including this one, and was honored to support and participate in this celebration along with Netanya municipality, the Ministry for Social Justice and “For the Caucasian Immigrants” charity. Mayor of Netanya Miriam Fainberg, the charity’s chairman Oleg Alchazov and Executive Projects Director Yehuda Davidov spoke at the occasion to honor the composer and to encourage the community to continue their wonderful creative work. The even also included a photo display of many previous concerts given by the talented artists of the community.
