Mobility and Eye Clinic 2020: Week Three – Netanya and Nof HaGalil

February 7th, 2020 –  This week the clinic had a wonderful start in the beautiful city of Carmiel in the north of Israel. Because of logistics of organizing various groups of people and providing space for the clinic, our team sometimes has to return to the same towns and cities several times. Helena, who coordinated the clinic this time, is a very special lady. 85 people received eye glasses.

The clinic spent several days in Netanya, serving different groups of the elderly at several locations in the city.

At one location, 56 people received eyeglasses. Some of them know our volunteers for years and greeted them with hugs and kisses. One survivor told us: “My glasses just broke yesterday. I am so happy that you are here today!” Our volunteers feel great joy in helping others, especially to see better!

At one retirement home, the team helped 45 elderly people with eyeglasses. One lady named Clara, was the only person in her family to survive the war. She is now 89.

50 survivors and veterans at another location were helped with glasses and mobility items.

At Nof HaGalil (formerly Nazareth Illit) the clinic served 112 people when only 80 people were expected. Thankfully a retired ophthalmologist volunteered with the team on that day!
