Grocery Card Distribution Helps Those in Distress

November 27th, 2020 – Dozens of disabled people and families in need are receiving financial help in Haifa, Ashdod, Bat Yam and other locations around Israel. Many of the individuals struggle with life challenges and sicknesses: such as cancer, Crohn’s disease, heart problems, severe back pain and more. These situations have thrown them off balance with their finances and living conditions, since they are unable to work and government compensation for disability and/or unemployment barely covers their rent. Many report having issues such as water leakages and other problems in their apartments, but landlords in general refuse to repair these issues, even though rent prices in Israel are extremely high.

Marina (first picture) lives in a tiny, damaged room which was once used as a storage room and pays over 2,000 NIS a month in rent. She has major water leakages from the rain and bad pipes, but can’t do anything about it. She was so happy to receive financial support in the form of grocery cards. She insisted on thanking the sponsors of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel who generously give to them and care for them.
