December 8th, 2023 â Thanks to GAiN Germany, hundreds of mattresses as well as basic hygienic products that were packed with love by German citizens, were donated to the residents of Nir Oz kibbutz who were evacuated after the events of October 7th to Kiryat Gat.
Finally, after 2 months of being moved around, the precious community will be moving this month into a temporary high end housing project for evacuees from the south in Kiryat Gat, free of rent, until the war is over and their homes get rebuilt. The housing project is managed by the Homz company and financed by the government.
Thanks to GAiN Germany, Helping Hand Coalition for Israel added value to those homes by providing mattresses and hygiene products, that will bless the residents when they move in next week.
About the Kiryat Gat housing project for the residents of Nir Oz kibbutz:
The Homz company took on the challenge of managing a unique project in a variety of cities, the goal of which is long-term housing of entire kibbutzim residents from the surrounding area and maintaining them living together as one community in 3 buildings. As mentioned, the first project is the population of Kibbutz Nir Oz.
There was a need for creative thinking on how to maintain the essence of a kibbutz in residential buildings in a city neighborhood, to give the families who have gone through (and are still going through) the shocking experience in their lives a little stability and to give these apartments a sense of home. And the most significant is the feeling that the evacuees are important, and that we see and care for them.
The project contains about 200 families from the kibbutz who lost their homes, and some of them even their family members. The families will move into 3 new buildings in Kiryat Gat that are next to each other, to maintain the feeling of community and togetherness of the kibbutz. Hopefully they will be able to get some comfort in entering pleasant new and well-equipped apartments until they can return to their kibbutz.
