August 4th, 2017 – Volunteers of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel (עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל) joined a group of Holocaust survivors from Jerusalem area, who are part of the Association Of Concentration Camps And Ghetto Survivors In Israel , for a Kleizmer concert at Israel Museum. The volunteers were invited to share this interesting event with the group because Helping Hand Coalition has been supporting them, but never met with the people before. It was a great opportunity to meet with a wonderful group of survivors, led by Lili Glazer.
The Israel Museum has been hosting the International Kleizmer Festival for two years, providing a venue for a day, when musicians from different countries, including world-renowned, can play world- famous tunes on the unique backdrop of the Jewish and other art galleries. We all enjoyed the variety of the music, and the survivors were touched to the heart by many tunes, and especially when they joined in singing “Yiddishe Mame” with compassion on their faces.
