February 13th, 2025

On February 13th, a special Tu BiShvat Seder took place at Shalom House in Caesarea, hosted by Bozena and Andrzej Gasiorowski. Held in the late morning, the gathering brought together Holocaust survivors from Or Akiva, led by Sofia Medvinskaya and the HHC team, for a time of deep fellowship, gratitude, and reflection.
The event was filled with heartfelt expressions of appreciation for the lasting bonds of friendship, as well as discussions on love—the force that gives life meaning and purpose. The timing of the gathering, close to both Valentine’s Day and Tu BiShvat, made these reflections even more poignant. A beautifully prepared festive Seder, served with warmth and generosity, set the stage for Bozena Gasiorowski to share the spiritual significance of Tu BiShvat as a symbol of renewal and new beginnings.
The musical portion, led by Uliana Istaev, began with songs praising the glory of the Most High, celebrating His creation. The melodies then shifted to songs from the survivors’ youth, evoking cherished memories and emotions. In a touching moment, Bozena shared a personal testimony of transformation—how, in the depths of grief over her beloved grandmother’s passing, she found comfort and peace by turning to HaShem, transforming sorrow into sweet remembrance.
The gathering was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community—a reminder that, even in the face of life’s hardships, friendship and the love of God bring healing, hope, and renewal.
