Insightful Training

November 26th, 2025 – An important and insightful discussion and training took place on the important topic of PTSD, covering what it is, how it affects the brain, and various models that address each person’s biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects. The discussion also explored practical ways to respond to PTSD and many related challenges, especially in light of the widespread trauma affecting Israeli soldiers and the the entire Israeli society since October 7th.

The session was led by Dr. Herbert Scheiblich, who graciously took time out of his busy schedule and flew from Germany to Israel to meet with Helping Hand Coalition and see firsthand the PTSD situation in the country.

Dr. Scheiblich brings more than 40 years of experience of working with people suffering from PTSD in Germany, Poland and Ukraine, particularly those affected by the ongoing war with Russia, as well as in many other countries across Europe.

He is a German specialist with medical and psychiatric expertise in psychiatry and psychotherapy, as well as child and adolescent psychotherapy. His additional qualifications include addiction medicine, nutritional medicine and traffic medicine. He maintains a private practice in Egenhausen, Germany.

He is also a theologian who serves as an adjunct researcher and lecturer at universities in Bern and Mainz.

Academic Role: He holds the title of Private Docent in religion and works as an adjunct researcher in the Department of Protestant Theology at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He also teaches at the University of Mainz in Germany. His research interests include the history of Ancient Israel and the cultures of the Ancient Near East.

Teaching and Training: He serves as the head of training for the Akademie für Psychotherapie Pforzheim, where he also lectures and supervises. In addition, he is involved with the DeIgnis Institute, which focuses on the connection between faith, counseling and psychotherapy.

Publications and Work: Dr. Scheiblich has authored and co-authored several research papers that explore the relationship between religiosity, psychology and trauma. His work includes:

• Empirical research on faith and psychotherapy through the Working Group for Empirical Research on Faith, Psychotherapy and Pastoral Care

• Lectures on trauma and therapy, including the subject of transgenerational effects in trauma treatment

• Lectures on pastoral approaches to ADHD in children and adolescents.
