Naharya | Grocery Cards for Survivors of the Holocaust evacuated from Shlomi, Part of GAiN Sponsorship Program

December 18th, 2024 – When the war started, Yefim and Faina were living very close to the border with Lebanon, where the Hezbollah terrorist missile launches took place.

Till a couple weeks ago, their city was still under constant daily rocket fire.

Soon it will be already a year that the poor elderly couple had to live as refugees in their own country.

AT first they rented an apartment in Haifa for few months, but when the war reached Haifa and they had to move again to another city, Nahariyah, and rent another apartment with their family.

The war soon reached their new location, and the last 6 months were extremely challenging with drone attacks, rocket fire and even direct rocket hits near their location.

They are grateful for the current ceasefire, hoping that things will remain this way. Yefim hopes his wife Faina will be ok, she recently broke her hip and is currently recovering in Tiberias at a rehabilitation center.

Here is what one of the recipients of the aid (in the first photo) said: “My name is Susana, I am evacuated from Kiryat Shmona.

Due to the current situation in the north and in Israel in general, my husband and I were forced to leave our house in the north. We could not take many things with us. While I was in the center, I was unable to buy shoes because my pension is not high and the state does not support me. I have a disabled husband and all expenses are paid by him.

Today we received brand new shoes that we can enjoy, very comfortable and beautiful shoes!

Thank you very much to The Generous Basket and to their partners (GAIN Germany and Helping Hand Coalition), thank you for allowing us to enjoy such good things.”
