A large article titled “In Berlin and Elsewhere”, published on December 4th, 2013 in a Russian newspaper, “The Elder and the Soldier”, was dedicated to activities of German and Israeli-based organizations representing those who fought in WWII or suffered in the Holocaust.
Peter Feldman, a retired Captain, is a Chairman of the Council of Veterans, Prisoners of Ghettos and Concentration Camps and Residents of Besieged Leningrad in Germany. Together with Mark Ludvipol, Chairman of Stuttgart branch of the Council, they spoke about activities of the Council in Germany in the light of preparations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany. Their activities include enlightenment campaign about WWII, the Holocaust and the victory on all levels of German society, organizing museums and memorials, participating in development of Jewish communities, schools and cemeteries, publishing periodicals, preserving memories of war heroes and many others. Roman Jagiel, a retired General, chairman of the Association of Wounded Soldiers and Partisans who Fought the Nazis, and Andre Gasiorowski, the President of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel and major leader in the Evangelical Christian community, shared how they participate in the life of the WWII and Holocaust survivors. Both the Association and the Coalition are closely involved in major spheres of life of Israeli survivors, providing moral and financial support, acting as liaison with the government, developing international contacts and being actively involved in the same objectives as its German counterpart.
Next year the Association, with the support of Helping Hand Coalition, will publish a concise military encyclopedia in German and Russian languages, bringing the truth about the WWII and the Holocaust to millions of German and Russian-speaking youths. Andre Gasiorowski invited representatives of both German and Israel-based organizations to the annual Victory day celebration in Latrun in 2014, where this event is planned for 10,000 War veterans and survivors and also guests from all over the world who come to show their support to those who suffered in the war and express honor and love to the survivors.
