July 5th, 2017 – A Shalom group of 20 survivors from Netanya came to Caesarea villa to spend time with five Israelis – volunteers from Haifa, Pardes Hana and Caesarea.
One of the volunteers shared how he got to know and got involved with the March of Life Movement. He spoke about his experience in taking part in his first March of Life in Israel in May 2017 and his participation in the tour with a group of musicians and dancers, who are the descendants of the perpetrators from the WWII, through several high schools in Israel.
Another couple brought meat for the grill and helped with serving and preparing the meal and the meeting.
It was special to see how these two generations came together, “Israelis serving Holocaust survivors and speaking Yiddish – their parents’ language” – said one of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel’s (עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל) foreign volunteers. We all had a nice lively time on a sunny July afternoon, and volunteers felt rewarded in their hearts that they could help the survivors to have a good time.
