November 20th, 2018 – The Shalom House project gives opportunities to people from different nations to meet the Holocaust survivors and serve them. This time a group of four, three teachers and a professional chef from United States, served 19 Holocaust survivors from Hadera in Caesarea Villa, where Helping Hand Coalition for Israel (עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל) organizes Shalom House meetings for different groups of survivors every week. They cooked a delicious lunch for the survivors and helped to prepare the event!
Before the volunteers came to Israel, the leader of the group asked them about the desires they had for this trip. All of them wanted the opportunity to meet and serve Holocaust survivors. They were very happy to have this opportunity through the Shalom House and as soon as they started to serve and to speak to the survivors, they could hardly hold their tears.
The survivors were very touched by the gift of a flag of the State of Texas and to hear that people in America support Israel. They proudly said they will hang it next to the Israeli flag in their community hall.
At the end, after our beautiful friends from Hadera went home, all the four volunteers were in tears saying: “This has been a life changing experience. We promise we will encourage other people to come and take part in the Shalom House project and to walk together for Israel in the March of the Nations in May 2018″.
