Caring for Survivors at Sheba Hospital, Tel Hashomer

January 11th, 2018 – Israeli winter is especially harsh to the elderly, and many of them have to be admitted to hospitals during these months. They need much care and support during those days when they are out of their familiar environment and receive intensive medical treatment for their ailments. Medical staff can’t be at their side for prolonged periods of time. That is why Helping Hand Coalition for Israel (עמותת יד לעזרה ישראל) is joining forces with the prestigious Sheva Hospital at Tel Hashomer to help support financially a project which hires two caretakers who visit for at least 8 hours a day to meet the needs of Holocaust survivors that are hospitalized. After visiting and interviewing some of them, it turns out that the project is a huge help and encouragement for the elderly, and that if it wasn’t for the extra hired staff they would often feel neglected.
