March 29th, 2018 – A day before Pessach (the feast marking freedom of Israel from slavery in Egypt), one of the most important holidays of the Jewish people, we had the privilege to host a Shalom House in the March of Life House for 16 Holocaust Survivors from Netanya.
The survivors who came to this special event do not have much of a family in Israel and some of them told us that they would usually stay alone at home. So to show their love and gratitude for what we do, they gave each one of us a bouquet of beautiful flowers and chocolates. They also received a gift from us.
During our lunch time, the coordinator of the group told us with sadness in her voice that in the last 3 months 5 people from her group have died.
Says one of our volunteers, Lesly: “So I am taking this opportunity to invite you to come to the March of the Nations on May 15th and walk with us, side by side with Holocaust Survivors, on the streets of Jerusalem to celebrate the miracle of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel. I also would like to invite you to consider to volunteer some of your time while you are in Israel to help in a Shalom House to show the survivors that people from around the world care for them”.
