Sharing Burritos and Smiles

June 24th, 2018 – Eight survivors from Or Akiva were determined to come for lunch at the Shalom Villa despite warm weather and having to take care of their great-grandchildren during this time of summer vacation. The real heat has not started yet, but for some of the elderly it’s still too warm to go out. But they could not turn down our invitation of Mexican food lunch and came to this Shalom House to eat and share together.

Says Lesly, our South American volunteer: “It was the the first time this group tasted burritos (a Mexican dish consisting of a tortilla rolled around a filling, typically of beans or ground or shredded beef). We had a great time eating and joking together. I passed the test, they really enjoyed!”
