July 12th, 2019 – 12 Holocaust survivors from Hadera came to March of Life Villa to spend time of rest and fellowship with the volunteers of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel (עמות יד לעזרה ישראל).
A visiting family from Germany came and helped to prepare and serve the lunch. One of them shared the story of her grandfather, who was an SA man and an inspector of finances during the Holocaust. He carried out anti-Jewish laws and was part of the violence against the Jewish people in Germany.
After she shared the story of her grandfather, pain turned into joy as they sang together the Israeli folk traditional song, Hava Nagila (Let us rejoice).
Afterwards, the Holocaust survivors enjoyed having some fellowship and even shared stories of their own. They expressed how grateful they are for these meetings. One said: “You don’t even know how much this event means to us. Meetings like this need to happen everywhere in the world. We need people like you to share and talk to the ones that unfortunately deny the Holocaust.“
