On November 14, 2024, a Shalom House gathering in Caesarea welcomed Holocaust survivors from Netanya, led by Rita Liberman, the chairman of their survivors’ club. The event began with warm greetings from Bozena and Andre Gasiorowski, who treated the guests to a delicious lunch, setting the tone for a day of connection and comfort.
After the meal, Uliana Istaev and Luke Gasiorowski performed music, singing together with the survivors. Luke also shared personal stories from his experiences as a reservist soldier, reflecting on the miraculous protection he has witnessed through God’s hand during his duties.
Rita Liberman expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the survivors, emphasizing how even small gifts from the Helping Hand Coalition (HHC) bring great joy and relief. She shared the story of one survivor who received a new mattress and said, “After sleeping on it for the first time, I woke up without the pain that had plagued me for years, allowing me to finally start my day with joy.”
One survivor shared a deeply moving poem he had written, capturing the harsh realities of life during war. Valentin, a former USSR general, also spoke passionately about Israel as a holy land gifted by God to His people. He urged everyone to respond to this gift with gratitude and responsibility.
As the meeting drew to a close, Uliana performed a final song. Bozena reminded everyone that alongside the physical battles and challenges Israel faces, each individual also confronts their own spiritual struggles. She encouraged the group to place their anxieties and hardships in God’s hands, trusting in His care and guidance.
The gathering concluded with a sense of unity, spiritual reflection, and hope for the future.
