Caesarea| Smiles Restored: Shalom House Welcomes Dental Project Participants

November 15, 2024

On November 15, 2024, Shalom House hosted 10 participants of the Dental Project from the Jerusalem Holocaust Survivors Club, led by Yakov Liberman. The gathering, organized by Bozena and Andre Gasiorowski, brought together survivors for a day of connection, gratitude, and celebration.

The event began with warm greetings, followed by Sarah Gasiorowski’s heartfelt explanation of the Dental Project. She highlighted its mission to provide essential dental care to Holocaust survivors facing financial challenges, making much-needed support possible.

The impact of the project was deeply felt through the testimonies shared. Daniel Hafkin expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to your help, I can eat, smile, and laugh again, and even give kisses to my dear wife.” Sophia Sclarnic shared her story, recalling how two years ago she had completely lost her upper teeth. With the help of the Dental Project, she proudly noted, she could now smile again without shame.

The atmosphere brightened further when the “One Heart” music team—featuring Lori, her husband Ilan, their son Alexander, and guitarist Michael—performed for the survivors. Their music and kind words filled the room with joy, appreciation, and love.

Before the event concluded, the survivors enjoyed a delicious lunch served outdoors. Surrounded by beautiful weather, they shared warm conversations and reflected on the uplifting day before beginning their long journey back home.

In closing, Yakov Liberman expressed deep thanks on behalf of all the survivors, appreciating the “Jewish Voice” organization for their invaluable support. Andre Gasiorowski responded by reaffirming the initiative’s purpose: to restore smiles and remind survivors that they are deeply valued and cared for.
