Shalom House in Caesarea: A Day of Resilience and Hope

November 28, 2024

On November 28, 2024, a sunny Shalom House gathering took place in Caesarea, hosting Holocaust survivors from Netanya, led by Lev Dorowski and his assistant, Ghenya. The day was filled with powerful stories, heartfelt moments, and an atmosphere of connection and encouragement.

Bozena warmly welcomed the group and introduced the Shalom House project, emphasizing its mission to bring hope and joy to survivors. She then invited Lev Dorowski to share his story. Lev recounted his harrowing experience of surviving a German ghetto and narrowly escaping death in a gas chamber. His testimony served as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable suffering.

After lunch, Ghenya spoke about their survivors’ club, sharing an inspiring message: “I’ve noticed that God gives blessings to those who bless others. And my age doesn’t prevent me from doing good.” Her words reflected the group’s shared commitment to spreading kindness and positivity despite life’s challenges.

During the program, the survivors chose to share their experiences through poetry instead of sorrow. Their heartfelt verses captured both the pain of the past and the strength it took to rebuild their lives.

The event concluded with a musical performance by Uliana Istaev. Her uplifting songs filled the air with joy and hope, leaving everyone in high spirits. The gathering brought a renewed sense of unity and encouragement to all who attended.
