September 11th, 2024 – Avner has been living in Bat Yam since 1956. He is 87 years old. He was in his apartment with his caregiver when the missile hit.

The building he lived in for 37 years was demolished due to the scope of damage. He came out with nothing, just a small purse. A true survivor, thanks to his bomb shelter. The plan is to soon rent an apartment. Recently he had his grandson wedding and had nothing to wear for the event. He had to go and buy an outfit for the occasion.

Avner is a survivor of the Holocaust. Their family escaped on foot from their home in Romania to hide from the Nazis. Every day they would go to another village; he was with his pregnant mother. They hid the whole war time, his father was taken by the Romanians and Germans, and was never seen again.
