Visiting Survivors in Jerusalem – Mikhail

May 31st, 2025 – Mikhail immigrated to Israel with his wife in 2018. They live together with their daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter in a 3-bedroom rented apartment and pay NIS 6,400 a month, which takes a huge bite out of their disability allowance of NIS 10,000.

“We were lucky to find an apartment at such a price,” – says Mikhail, “since there are five of us. My daughter’s husband left her for another woman, but soon after that he died. She was crushed.”

Mikhail has serious health issues – Parkinson’s, aortal aneurysm, glaucoma and others. The government pays for a caregiver to help them with house chores several hours a week.

The survivors were grateful for our visit and interest in their lives and thanked us for the small gift we brought for them.
