Gathering at the Hotel Gilgal in Tel Aviv on July 13th, one hundred and fifty survivors of the Holocaust from Lod and Netanya were the first to hear The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra during their eight-day tour through the Holy Land. The event, organized by Helping Hand Coalition and Lori Lowenhar, was a memorable night of jubilation and laughter.
This week consisted of two Shalom House events! With more artwork to gift to the survivors, Jörn Lange and his group, Artists for Holocaust Survivors, returned for one more event. Opening Helping Hand Coalition’s headquarters to thirty-five survivors from the Foundation of Holocaust Victims based in Haifa and led by Margarita, July 12th was an afternoon of reuniting with friends and drawing closer through the reconciliation of art!
Art has the power to transfer meaning from the hands of the painter into the heart of the beholder. On July 11th, Helping Hand Coalition opened its headquarters to an exhibition of artwork from all over the world. Welcoming back the Artists for Holocaust Survivors, led by Jörn Lange, and twenty-six survivors from Rishon LeZion, led by Evgenia Tzofim, it was an afternoon of impacting moments and heartfelt connection.

All over the world, Jewish boys and girls observe their first steps into adulthood with a bar/bat mitzvah; however, not every family has the money to celebrate this special occasion with a party. On July 13th, the Beit Reches Club (מועדונית בית רכס) for children at risk in Pardes-Hana Karkur hosted an elaborate bat mitzvah for five girls — Aline, Sonia, Nicole, Noa, and Jasmine. Helping Hand Coalition sponsored the catering and attended the event with a message to the young women.
