Petakh Tikva | Grocery Shopping Gift Cards for the Disabled and Underprivileged

December 30th, 2024 – Thanks to the generosity of Helping Hand Coalition for Israel sponsors, another local resident in need received blessed financial help in the form of grocery cards for her and her family in the heart of the Hanukkah celebrations.

Sarah is a 41 year old single mother. She has 3 children, (17, 15 and a 14 year old autistic son with lots of issues).

She made Alyah in 2011 from Ukraine, and has become a widow in the past year. She was separated with her husband since 2012, he had been violent with her.

She currently lives in Petach Tikva, she was in Ashkelon last year with her children but their building was hit by a rocket on the first day of the war, and they were left without a home (everything she had in her rental apartment was destroyed or damaged).

She was then given a small room in Petach Tikva for few days. After which she rented another apartment for a large sum for a short period. Finally the ministry of absorption gave her a social apartment they can stay in at the moment for a minimal rent.

They lost everything when the rocket hit their home. So they had to start life from scratch, buy everything from underwear to clothing, home supplies and more.

She is currently unable to work, she has to take care of her son who has autism.
