Munich (idea) – Latent anti-Semitism in Germany causes great concern to Israel. According to a study, 20 percent of Germans have anti-Semitic tendencies. These could not jeopardize the successful path of friendship. But one should not overlook the signals and educate the youth to international understanding, said the Israeli Consul General in Munich, Tibor Shalev-Schlosser, at a commemoration of the ecumenical “Initiative January 27” on January 29 in Munich.

At six degrees below zero and constant snowfall, thousands of people from all over the world gathered in the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp on Thursday afternoon to commemorate the millions of victims of Nazi terror. Queen Beatrix and Pieter van Vollenhoven were also present at this ceremony in the context of 60 years of liberation from Auschwitz.
